Among industrial thermal insulation materials, ceramic fiber blanket looks like an ordinary white cotton blanket, soft and fluffy to the touch. Yet when you press it hard, it bounces back. This unyielding toughness — the ability to recover after compression — is defined as resilience.
Resilience serves as one of the core indicators for evaluating ceramic fiber blanket quality, determining its performance in scenarios including high-temperature sealing and furnace lining expansion compensation. Today we will discuss: What exactly is resilience? What makes Aladdin ceramic fiber blanket capable of being compressed flat and bouncing back reliably?
Resilience refers to the recovery capacity of ceramic fiber products after being compressed to 50% of their original thickness. It is calculated as the ratio of thickness after unloading to the original thickness.
For example: a 50 mm-thick blanket is compressed to 25 mm and held for 5 minutes before load release. If the recovered thickness reaches no less than 40 mm, its resilience rate exceeds 80%, meeting Chinese national standards. National standards stipulate that ceramic fiber blankets must achieve resilience above 80% — this is a strict threshold for qualified products.

In industrial applications, resilience is far more than just how well the material springs back. It directly affects equipment sealing efficiency and service life.
High-temperature sealing relies on resilience. Ceramic fiber blanket is widely adopted as high-temperature gas sealing material, filling gaps at flange joints and furnace doors to block heat leakage. Poor resilience means the blanket cannot recover after compression, leaving gaps and allowing continuous heat loss.
Furnace lining expansion compensation depends on resilience. Kilns undergo thermal expansion and contraction under high temperatures. The elasticity of ceramic fiber modules offsets furnace shell deformation and prevents gaps between modules. Without good resilience, such compensation effect will be greatly weakened.
The outstanding resilience of Aladdin ceramic fiber blanket originates from two key factors:
Process: Spun long fiber + double-sided needle punchingAladdin adopts the spun fiber process to produce fibers with diameter 3.0–5.0 µm and length 150–250 mm, longer and thicker than ordinary fibers. Combined with double-sided needle punching, fibers interlock to form a dense three-dimensional network. Voids are squeezed during compression, and the inherent elasticity of fibers restores the structure once pressure is removed.
Formulation: Free of organic bindersResilience is derived purely from the intrinsic fiber structure rather than chemical additives. Without organic binders, there will be no performance degradation caused by binder volatilization at high temperatures, delivering more stable and consistent resilience.

Resilience is not constant. When temperature exceeds 400°C, ceramic fibers suffer high-temperature creep — slow and irreversible deformation under sustained load and high heat. Higher temperature accelerates creep and gradually reduces resilience.
Therefore, during material selection, we should not only check room-temperature resilience rate, but also focus on performance under actual operating temperatures. Formulations (standard grade, zirconia-containing grade, etc.) differ greatly in anti-creep capacity.

With over 40 years of development, Aladdin is a professional ceramic fiber manufacturer.
Resilience rate over 80%, compliant with national standards;
Spun long fiber plus double-sided needle punching delivers tough, highly resilient blankets with excellent tear resistance both before and after heating;
When fabricated into modules, the elasticity of fiber blankets compensates furnace shell deformation and avoids gaps between modules.
Resilience represents the core soft strength of ceramic fiber blanket. It determines whether the blanket can fully seal gaps, maintain tightness under high temperature, and function continuously amid thermal expansion and contraction.
Aladdin weaves fibers into an elastic network via double-sided needle punching, endowing this white cotton-like blanket with uncrushable toughness. Next time you see a roll of ceramic fiber blanket, try pressing it. The instant it bounces back tells the story of resilience.
